How to Get Married in the Time of COVID (And Get the Celebration You Really Want)

Wedding During COVID

While 2020 might not have turned out to be the wedding year you originally hoped for, there’s a silver lining in achieving the wedding celebration you envision. For those who want to get married now, Oak Parc Events has intimate wedding packages and, for the first time, we’re offering a bonus 1st year anniversary celebration. Even though the ceremony itself is smaller and more intimate, you’ll have the option to pack the house with guests when it comes time to celebrate a successful end to your first year of marriage.

Why a Small Wedding?

The Covid-19 pandemic forced a change of plans for a lot of brides and engaged couples. However, a small wedding is hardly a lesser option. Our intimate wedding packages are enchanting, endearing and far more than what you’d get from eloping in a courthouse. Even if the judges did decide to hand out delicious cake and bubbly champagne, the intimate experience with Oak Parc Events couldn’t be beat.

There’s just something special about small weddings. Many brides think they need hundreds of guests, but the moment they experience the private moments as well as the moments shared in the comfort of their closest friends and family, they immediately understand what makes these weddings, well, intimate.

Pick an Intimate Wedding Package

Like any good wedding plan, it’s important to start with ceremony. With our intimate wedding packages, you’ll enjoy the time you need at the venue to use our bridal suite, host your ceremony and more. We even have options that include time for reception and pictures. Oh, and you’ll have help while you’re at it. You can choose a package option with a dedicated planner to coordinate all included vendors, coordinate your ceremony and ensure everything is running smoothly the day of your event. Beautiful outdoor and indoor spaces provide picture-perfect settings and healthy distancing measures. Food stations, butler passing, cake service and a champagne toast are included in some packages to really round out your wedding day in style.

If you want to learn more about what’s offered in each package, check out our informational packet.

Invite Your Guests without Guessing Games

At Oak Parc Events, we offer intimate wedding packages for couples who don’t want to wait things out or postpone once again in order to get married. An intimate wedding in the perfect setting is just the option you’re searching for — especially when it matters who is there and how many are there to witness it. Whether your guest list involves 1-26 people or 26-50 people, our intimate wedding packages are tailored to accommodate your special day.

Declare Victory with Your Vows

Something as important as your wedding can’t wait. An intimate wedding means that you’re ready to move forward with marriage without even more waiting games and challenges outside your control. It’s a feeling of victory. It’s what marriage is really all about, right? And, we have just the follow-up celebration that’ll give your close friends and family something exciting to look forward to.

Throw an All-Out Celebration for Your 1st Year Anniversary

On your one-year anniversary, you will be able to have the celebration that you originally envisioned except now it means even more! Renew your vows in the same spot you originally tied the knot a year earlier — only now,  you can stand in front of each other and all your guests knowing that you overcame so much adversity the world unexpectedly threw your way. It’s a beautiful way of saying that your marriage will survive anything.

The atmosphere alone will be pure magic. While all your guests are with you to celebrate your one-year anniversary, they’ll be full of a little extra joy at the freedom to get out and dance and hug and kiss and be together again. And guess what? They’ll have your marriage to thank for that.

Tips for Planning a Wedding During COVID-19

Tips for Wedding Planning During COVID-19

There’s so much to think about when planning your big day, no matter where your wedding date falls on the calendar. But if it happens to be in the middle of an unprecedented event like COVID-19, you might be wondering what you should be doing in a time like this. As of March 16, the White House advised that gatherings of more than 10 people be postponed until further notice. Furthermore, on March 15th, the CDC asked to comply with postponing gatherings of more than 50 people for the following eight weeks.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by wedding planning during this time of uncertainty, you’re certainly not alone. This global pandemic is affecting couples planning their wedding and wedding planners alike. As always, Oak Lodge and Parc 73 want to help you during every step of your wedding journey, especially during a time like this. We’ve put together some tips with expert advice to help you plan your wedding during COVID-19.

Take a Deep Breath

We understand that this is a hard time for everybody right now. With some patience, flexibility, and being surrounded by positive people, we are certain you will still find a way to celebrate your special day. As things continue to change during this uncertain time, a lot of things remain out of our control. However, you can shift your focus to what you can control – what marriage really means to you. Reflect on your relationship with your significant other at this time, and what truly matters most to you both in celebrating your wedding. Take these conclusions and start planning for your big day, whatever that may look like to you! And as you prioritize your health, self-care, and each other, use this upcoming time at home to move forward with your new plans.

Consult With Your Team

We encourage couples to try to speak with your entire wedding planning team at the SAME time so everybody is on the same page. This may include your wedding planner, catering team, wedding party, venue, DJ, photography team, or anybody else involved in the day. Remember: if your goal remains to have all of your family and friends attend your big day, it should be in the safest way possible. Whenever you are thinking about which date to postpone your wedding to, try to find a date that feels good for everyone involved.

Send Out New Cards

If you’ve made a decision to postpone your wedding, try to send your guests “Change the Date” cards to let them know about this change. If you decided not to postpone your wedding or you’re planning for a future wedding, you can send out a card explaining that you’re going to keep an eye out for more information. Also, if you have a wedding website, like The Knot, you can provide updates to guests as they happen.

Positive Accounts on Social Media

Trying to bring your spirits up? It is a good idea to follow social media accounts that are positive. If you follow someone that complains and creates negativity on your timeline, it’s a good idea to unfollow them. This negativity could not only bring negativity into your wedding planning, but it can make you feel anxious and uncertain. There are many wedding planners, venues, and florists that are making it a mission to share happiness and positivity and help you find creative ways to celebrate this special time with you!

As the situation of the coronavirus (COVID-19) remains fluid, we are on a mission to give you the most up to date advice on how we can best help plan your wedding. You are not in this alone. We will help guide you through every step of the way to ensure your dream wedding.

Top 10 Tips and Tricks for Brides on Your Wedding Day

Your big day is almost here, and we get it, you’re probably feeling overwhelmed! You and your loved ones spent a lot of time planning this event, so it’s understandable that you want everything to run smoothly. Avoid the stress by being prepared with our top tips and tricks to make your wedding day go as smooth as possible:

Deflect Day-of Responsibilities:

All of the planning may be done, but there are plenty of little details that still need to be worked out on the day of your wedding. However, it’s your special day, so let someone else coordinate with your vendors to make sure everything runs smoothly without having to get you involved! Decide on a point person (maybe a bridesmaid, relative or close friend you can trust) and make sure to give your wedding day vendors their contact information for that day so you don’t have to pause getting your makeup done to take a call from your florist!

Consider a Dedicated Day-Of Coordinator:

With that being said, many argue you really need a professional assistant to get you through the day. From time to time it’s good to have someone check in and let you know what needs to happen next. Being able to rely on a professional, detail-oriented assistant can make your wedding a lot more enjoyable. A lot of all-inclusive reception centers will include a day-of assistant, like we do at Oak Lodge and Parc 73, or you can hire a dedicated third-party coordinator to come in just for the day.

Prepare a Must-Have Shot List for Your Photographer:

Your photographer may have shot hundreds of weddings, but you know best what memories you’ll want to be sure to capture before the day is over. Make sure you list them out and share with your photographer so they can plan properly. It’s also a good idea to have a friend or family member check in with them periodically to see if they need help coordinating things like large group family shots – the photographer may not notice if Uncle Ronny is missing!

Don’t Forget to Eat:

Whatever you do, make sure you and your bridal party get something in your stomach before the wedding. The bridal party may be busy running around coordinating last minute details, and brides and grooms often get nervous and avoid eating altogether. It’s a long day of celebration, and not eating can easily lead to feeling queasy and light-headed, or even fainting on the altar! A good, easy idea is to have something like a sandwich platter out while everyone is getting ready.

Let’s talk about shoes.

Ladies, you’ll definitely want to make sure you wear in your brand new heels prior to your wedding day. You don’t want your feet to be aching all night. Also, remember to bring a pair of flats or sandals on the day of the wedding.

What About The Restroom Breaks?:

This tip has been passed down for generations! The easiest way to use the restroom in a wedding dress is to sit on the toilet backward, facing the wall. This will allow you (or your bridesmaids) to have more control over your dress. It may sound crazy, but trust us – you’ll thank us for this one later!

Prepare for Rain:

Let’s face it – it’s southern Louisiana, and rain is always a possibility! If you’ll be outside at any point, even if just walking from the car to the entrance of your venue, make sure you check the forecast and pack lots of large umbrellas to keep yourself and your bridal party high and dry if necessary!

Consider a “Buffer Day” Before Your Honeymoon:

If you’re planning on heading out for your honeymoon immediately following your wedding, you may want to think twice before booking a flight the next morning! Remember, it’s a long day and regardless of whether you’re imbibing or not, you’ll probably have a little wedding day hangover! Take a day to sleep in late and maybe enjoy brunch with your besties and family members before everyone goes their separate ways. You’ll feel much more relaxed the day of your wedding if you know you don’t have to worry about making it to the airport on time the next morning!

Let It Go:

No matter how much planning time you put in, remember that things are going to happen on your wedding day that are out of your control. Try not to sweat the small stuff! Keep your focus on why you’re getting married and enjoy the day before it’s over. Trust us – no one will remember that the flowers weren’t the perfect shade of pale pink, or that the candles were in the wrong place!

Take a Minute to Soak It All In:

This may sound like a given, but don’t forget to spend time with your new hubby! Many brides get carried away trying to please their guests and keep the party going. But remember why you’re there: to celebrate this day with the person you love. Grab your newlywed and take it all in – it goes by in a flash!
